The horror / gore here is weak, however Graduation Day’s strength is fantastic characters. The grouchy detective, the pot smoking couple who belittles a cop (after they’ve been given a warning) and the boozed up father who throws the word “bitch” with buckets of piss and vinegar. If there was ever a film bridging the 70s to the 80s, here it is. Check out the punk band performing, while the crowd roller skates around them! Plus, there’s a psychedelic haze over this film that’s really cool. Check out the slow-mo uneven bars gymnastic scene. Heavy.
